Griffintown Project overview
Devimco, the City of Montréal and the Southwest borough have agreed on the project principles and it is on the basis of these overall guidelines that discussions are continuing with stakeholders in order to ensure continued improvement of the project.
- Create a multifunctional urban project offering a new, safe, attractive and diversified environment.
- Ensure the implementation of a design concept responding to sustainable development, from a social, environmental and economic point of view, and to meet the needs of users and future generations.
- Increase the density of the sector by ensuring harmonious coexistence of urban functions.
- Ensure the simultaneous development of residential uses, service equipment and economic activities.
- Diversify the residential offer to keep Montréalers in Montréal in line with the city’s direction.
- Assure the establishment of equipment and services that meet the needs of residents and users.
- Promote the use of alternative public transportation system public transport.
- Confirm the unique character of the Lachine Canal and the Peel Basin.
- Promote public access to the canal by building streets, parks, public places, an opening under the railway…
- Assure the creation and enhancement of parks, green spaces and public places.
- Integrate and highlight heritage buildings.
- Ensure quality architecture
- Re-establish links with adjacent areas
