Living in Griffintown
Griffintown project proposes the creation of a new urban living environment responding to the needs expressed by the Tremblay-Zampino administration to bring people to Montréal. It presents a new sector for a city turned resolutely towards the 21st century.
In all, Devimco intends to build 3900 varied housing units, representing nearly 65% of the total project, to meet the needs of various groups.
Condominiums
Several types of high-end and medium range condominiums will be constructed to meet the needs of young families and professional couples. Condominiums imagined by Devimco promote the creation of an environment that enables residents to live and work in the same area or nearby. This is an increasingly popular concept in major American and European cities.
Residences for the retired
The number of quality housing units for retired people is insufficient in the central neighbourhoods of Montréal. However, a complex of homes for them in Griffintown will be spread over a vast territory.
Student residences
It's in Montréal that you find the largest number of foreign students in Canada due to the great number of universities and higher education facilities. The construction of student residences is a necessity. The Devimco plan responds as much to demand as to the urban plan of the City of Montréal promoting the completion of student residences in the Griffintown area. In addition, it’s a good fit with the project, set by the Montréal Summit, to establish an international university city in the City of Montréal.
Social and affordable housing
The construction of social and affordable housing in Griffintown is in line with the City of Montréal’s strategy of inclusion, which promotes diversity and residential mix within the same project. Devimco is working with the Municipal Housing Office, the Montréal Building and Housing Development Corporation, as well as Bâtir son quartier in order to facilitate the smooth integration of these units in the project.
